Fr Liam Rigney was appointed Parish Priest of the combined parishes of Athy, Narraghmore and Moone in August 2017.

Fr Liam Rigney was appointed Parish Priest of Maynooth in July 2007. He came from the Parish of North William St a Parish in Dublin City Centre.

Born in Dublin in 1957, he was educated in St Laurence’s National School, Kilmacud and St Benildus De La Salle College. He entered Clonliffe College in 1974 and was ordained a priest for the Dublin diocese in Seville Place in 1981.

He has held various appointments in the Dublin Diocese beginning with his first appointment teaching in Stillorgan and Blackrock VEC while being Chaplain to the St John of God Brothers in St Augustines, Carysfort avenue.

He continued his studies in UCD where he completed a doctorate in history. He was appointed to Mount Merrion Parish for three years and then worked as prison chaplain for seven years in Mountjoy prison and Arbour Hill. For the last twelve years his appointment was in North William St.

Fr Liam was active in the North City Centre Deanery where he was Vicar Forane for six years and he also served as Secretary to the Dublin Diocesan Council of Priests.
